What is Ironman 70.3?
The Ironman 70.3 is a triathlon challenge which consists of the following 3 events combined into one big endurance challenge: 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run. In these triathlons the time is taken from the swim start till the athlete crosses the finish line after the 21.1km Half Marathon. Although in most cases the times for each of the 3 disciplines is given after the finish. The total time adds up the swim, T1 (transition zone 1), bike, T2 (transition zone 2) and the run.
What does the 70.3 stand for?
The name Ironman 70.3 comes from the total distance mesured in miles, and was earlier more likely referred to as Half Ironman as it is the half distance of a full Ironman distance
